The Treasures Of The Snow And Hail
Text: Job 38:22-23
“Hast thou entered into the treasures of the snow? Or hast thou seen the treasures of hail,”
Job 38:23 “ Which I have reserved against the time of trouble, against the day of battle and war?”
Introduction: I feel I must take advantage of the wonderful object lesson God has given to us with all the snow, hail, and ice we have had for the last few days. God’s word asked two questions. “Hast thou entered into the treasures of the snow?”
“Or hast thou seen the treasures of the hail?”
The snow is formed into crystal like images of a variety of beautiful figures from congealed vapor in the air. Hail is formed by distilled raindrops as they fall through cold air. These are purifiers of the air and deliverers of oxygen to the soil of the earth.
Psalm 147:15-18, Job 38:22 adds that Jehovah God had reserved snow and hail against the time of trouble, and the day of battle and war, when He should purpose to chastise men by special use of them.

I. THE TREASURES OF THE SNOW
Snow = Frozen crystallized flakes of water. Snowflakes have six sides. It is claimed there are no two snowflakes alike; yet, all are hexagonal in shape. An eminent scientist, J. Wilson Bentley, devoted his life to the study of snowflakes. He photographed over 10,000 flakes. He found no two exactly alike, though all have six sides. He claimed that the entire countryside from Maine to California might be covered with snow a foot deep; yet, no two flakes would be exactly alike.

C.) The Treasures Of The Snow
1. How Strong the Snow Is!
It can block roads and railway lines. It can stop mighty locomotives. Napoleon was halted on his path to world empire by the might of the snowflakes!
Example: Someone gave my wife Michelle a picture of 11 snowmen in the snow holding a sign that said: “Snowflakes are some of natures most fragile things, but just look what happens when they stick together.”
2. How Useful The Snow Is! It warms and waters the earth: it is like a white blanket keeping nature warm.
3. How Beautiful The Snow Is! It can transform the dingiest and most dismal scene and make it sparkle like a view of fairyland.
4. How Silent The Snow Is! Thousands of tons of it can fall in the night, and no one will be aware of its descent until the light reveals its presence in the morning.

“They fought from heaven; the stars in their courses fought against Sisera..” Example: Napoleon and his 500,000 dead army men outside of Moscow. They were brought down by a snowflake. He said before the battle, “God is on the side of the army with the heaviest battalion.” He was right, but he forgot to count the stars. Psalm 8:3-4
