THE SECOND MILE CHRISTIAN
Reading: Matthew 5:38-48 Text: Matthew 5:41
The Second Mile Christian! Only three times in the Bible is the Name Christian is used: Two times by unbelievers in Christ and only one time by a believer in Christ who was just quoting what the unbelievers thought of Believers. Christian means Christ-Like! Acts 11:26, Acts 26:28, I Peter 4:16 The Second Mile Christian is not an original principle with me or any preacher. The principle began with the Lord Jesus Christ, He taught it in the Bible in the Sermon on the Mount, but if you learn that principle, it will give you joy unspeakable and full of glory, it will put a smile on your face, it'll put a spring in your step, it will put victory in your life. That principle is the principle called the Second Mile. The Second Mile is the Smile Mile.
I. THE SECOND MILE IS THE LAGNIAPPE MILE
La·gniappe = Something given as a bonus or extra gift.

Life is lived really on three levels.
First: There is the hellish level. (return evil for good}
Second: The human level. (return good for good and evil for evil)
Third: The Heavenly Level. (return good for evil)
II. THE SECOND MILE IS THE LOVE MILE
A. Go the Second Mile When Your Dignity Is Degraded

C. Go the Second Mile When You Have a brother in Need

D. Go the Second Mile When You Are Used and Abused

III. THE SECOND MILE IS THE VICTORY MILE
In the first mile we are just another slave.
But in the second mile, we are victors.
IF WE ONLY DO WHAT IS REQUIRED OF US, WE ARE NO BETTER THAN SLAVES, FREEDOM SETS IN WHEN WE GO BEYOND THE BOUNTIES OF JUST WHAT IS REQUIRED.

1. It Will Change Your Attitude
2. It Will Make You a Success
3. It Is the Key to Better Relationships
Conclusion: Being of Christ means going the Second Mile!
Freedom for the Christian is not the freedom to do whatever they want, but the freedom to do as they ought. I Peter 2:16,
I Thessalonians 4:1, I John 2:6. Freedom is life controlled by truth & motivated by love. Bondage is life controlled by lies & motivated by selfishness. John 8:32, Galatians 4:3, 9, 5:1 A Bible believing, Bible reading, Born again, Spirit-filled Christian knows real freedom & can never be mentally & socially enslaved. John 8:32, John14: Jesus went the second mile for every one of us. Romans 5:8
