THE KING IS COMING
Text: Revelation 1:7-18
Introduction: When John wrote this, he wrote it from the Island of Patmos. I have visited the Island of Patmos. The Island of Patmos there, in the Mediterranean, was the Devil's Island of that day; it was the Alcatraz of that day. It is where people were sequestered away; it is where people were taken and put because of the crimes that they had committed against the state. The crime that the Apostle John committed was the preaching of the gospel of Jesus Christ; and for that, they locked him up. And, listen to me: The time may soon come where this preacher and other preachers will be sequestered away and put behind bars for preaching the gospel. And, if you think that I am being an alarmist or foolish, I want to tell you that what I say I'm saying with all of the sincerity of my heart after having thought about it. The Bible teaches that, in the last days, those who kill us will think they've done God a service. We're going to be studying the Great Tribulation, so I don't want to anticipate that and get into it ahead of time. But, do not think for one little moment, the Church is going to be taken out before the Great Tribulation, that we, as Christians, are not going to have any tribulation. John 16:33, Acts 14:22: "All who live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution" (2 Timothy 3:12). The Bible teaches that there is going to come, in the last days, a 10-nation confederacy, out of which the Antichrist will come. We'll deal with that later. And, it is at that time that Israel is going to say, "At last—at last—our Deliverer has come. At last, we know peace." But, the Bible says, "When they say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction will come upon us" (1 Thessalonians 5:3) Deuteronomy 33:25, Revelation 1:7,

II. PAUL’S CONTRASTS
THREE CONTRASTS OUR TEXT VERSES Galatians 2:20
We have in this verse three contrasts presented to us:
1.) The contrast between the past and the present: “The life which I now live.”
2.) The contrast between love and law: “The Son of God loved me”
Previously Paul had lived under law.
3.) The contrast between Christ and self: Not I, but Christ.”
III. PAUL’S SWAN SONG: II Timothy 4:6-8
1. Paul Speaks a Sacrifice - “ready to be offered” Romans 12:1-2
2. Paul Speaks as A Soldier - “I have fought a good fight”
3. Paul speaks As an Athlete - “I have finished my course,”
4. Paul Speaks as A Trustee - “I have kept the faith”
