THE GENERATIONAL FAITH MOM!
II Timothy 1:5
The Generational Faith Mom Knows She in A God Placed Ministry; For Her Family’s Spiritual Growth. II Timothy 1:5 When I call to remembrance the unfeigned faith that is in thee, which dwelt first in thy grandmother Lois,
and thy mother Eunice; and I am persuaded that in thee also.
Introduction: II Timothy 1:5 is more than a compliment; it’s a recognition of a spiritual heritage. Timothy’s ministry was built on a foundation laid by two faithful women who taught him, prayed for him, and modeled what it meant to follow God. Paul writes to Timothy, his young protégé in ministry. In this verse, Paul recalls the genuine faith that Timothy inherited — not from a seminary, not from a synagogue leader, but from his mother Eunice and grandmother Lois. Let’s look at The Generational Faith Mom!
I. A FAITH THAT IS SINCERE (AUTHENTIC).
II Timothy 1:5 “unfeigned faith” Eunice and Lois didn’t just speak about God on the Sabbath; they lived for Him every day. Their faith was not a performance but a lifestyle.
II. A FAITH THAT IS SURE (FOUNDATIONAL AND FACTUAL).
II Timothy 1:5 “When I call to remembrance the unfeigned faith”
Romans 10:17
III. A FAITH THAT IS SATURATING (PENETRATING).
II Timothy 1:5 “faith that is in thee,” The Faith of Timothy’s Grandmother and Mother was In Timothy! Their Faith was the type of Faith that Saturates and Penetrates! Proverbs 22:6
IV. A FAITH THAT IS SHARED (TRANSMISSION).
II Timothy 1:5 “which dwelt first in thy grandmother Lois, and thy mother Eunice;”
Paul says this faith “which first dwelt” or “first lived in your grandmother Lois and in your mother Eunice.” Faith is caught as much as it is taught.
Proverbs 31:26 Notice the chain: grandmother → mother → son.
Passing On Faith Is Intentional. Deuteronomy 11:18-20
V. A FAITH THAT IS SANCTIFYING (PURIFYING).
Paul speaking to Timothy says: II Timothy 3:14-15
But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them; II Timothy 3:15 And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.
VI. A FAITH THAT IS STRONG (PERSEVERANCE).
A Faith that is so strong it is Enduring (Powerfully Resilience)
II Timothy 1:5 “I am persuaded that in thee also.” It is a powerful seeable Faith! The Faith Timothy Inherited Was Resilient.
A Strong Faith Is Forged in The Fires of Difficulty. Timothy’s faith endured because it was rooted in a strong example. Proverbs 31:28, Titus 2:3-5,
Acts 16:1 Timothy’s mother was a believer, even though his father was Greek.
Conclusion: II Timothy 1:5, II Timothy 3:15
A Closing Challenge: Mothers, you may feel that your influence is small — but God can use your daily faithfulness to shape the destiny of your children and grandchildren. Like Lois and Eunice, you can leave a legacy of lasting faith that will outlive you. “A mother’s greatest gift is not what she leaves for her children, but what she leaves in her children."
A Closing Exhortation: Mothers, you are more than caregivers — you are faith-shapers. The prayers you whisper, the Scriptures you share, the example you set — these are the building blocks of a spiritual legacy. One day, your children may stand in their own moment of decision, and the faith you’ve lived before them will be the compass that points them toward God. Pass on the heirloom of faith with care, knowing it is the most valuable gift you can give.
A Closing Story – “The Worn Bible”
"Your children don’t need a perfect mother. They need a praying mother."
Pray not only for your children’s safety, but for their spiritual impact.
