(THE MOTHER OF ZEBEDEE’S CHILDREN)
Text: Matthew 20:20-23
Notice the beautiful testimony she had:
I. SHE CAME TO JESUS.
“Then came to Him.” Matthew 20:20
A.) She Came for Salvation. “Then came to Him.” Matthew 20:20, Isaiah 1:18
B.) She Came to Serve. “Then came to Him.” Matthew 20:20,
II Timothy 1:5
II. SHE BROUGHT HER BOYS TO JESUS.
“With her sons,” Matthew 20:20
A.) She Made the Right Choice for Her Boys!
Joshua 24:15, Proverbs 22:6, Psalms 127:3-4
B.) We Need Mothers and Fathers Today Who Will Make the Right Choices for Their Children.
III. SHE CAME TO WORSHIP JESUS WITH HER BOYS.
“Worshiping Him,” Matthew 20:20
A.) She Set an Example of Worship for Her Boys.
John 4:24
IV. SHE WANTED THE VERY BEST FOR HER BOYS.
Matthew 20:21
A.) She Wanted Her Boys as Close to Jesus as Possible.
Matt. 20:21“Grant that these my two sons may sit,”
She Wanted Her Boys:
To Be Taught by Jesus,
To Be Trained by Jesus,
To Trust Jesus
B.) She Wanted Her Boys Side by Side with Jesus.
Matt. 20:21“The one on thy right hand, and the other on the left,”
C.) She Wanted Her Boys Right Next to Jesus Throughout All Eternity. Matt. 20:21 “in thy kingdom.”
V. SHE SET AN EXAMPLE OF DEVOTION FOR HER BOYS EVEN UNTIL THE END. Matthew 27:55-56
A.) She Was Always There for Her Boys.
1. She proved over and over the sincerity of her love!
II Corinthians 8:8, “prove the sincerity of your love.”
II Corinthians 13:5, Galatians 6:4, I Thessalonians 5:21
B.) She Had to Raise Her Boys Without the Support of Her Husband, Zebedee.
1. Where was Dad? Where was Father Zebedee?
Matthew 4:22, Mark 1:19-20
Conclusion: But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:8
