SPIRITUAL POWER FOR SPIRITUAL LIVING!

Text: Philippians 3:10–14

Introduction: How can we have the needed Spiritual Power for Spiritual Living! I mean to live a life that is a life that would give glory to the Lord Jesus, a life of fulfillment, a life of the progressive realization of the will of God for our lives?

I. FIX YOUR FOCUS Philippians 3:10

Now, how did the Apostle Paul want to know Christ?

A. Paul Wanted to Know Christ Personally

Philippians 3:10 “That I may know Him,”

B. Paul Wanted to Know Christ Powerfully

Philippians 3:10 “and the power of His resurrection,”

C. Paul Wanted to Know Christ Passionately

Philippians 3:10 “and the fellowship of His sufferings,”

D. Paul Wanted to Know Christ Preeminently

Philippians 3:10 “being made conformable unto His death;”, Galatians 2:20

II. TAKE AN HONEST INVENTORY Philippians 3:1-12

Now what Paul is doing is evaluating himself. He is saying, “O God, I’m not what I ought to be. Lord, let my purpose be to fulfill that for which you saved me.”

I am satisfied with Jesus,

But the question comes to me,

As I think of Calvary,

Is my Master satisfied with me?

—B. B. McKinney

III. NARROW YOUR INTERESTS

Philippians 3:13 “but this one thing I do,” Matthew 6:24, James 1:8, Luke 11:34

What the main job of the church is, is to keep the main thing the main thing—the main job of the church is to keep the main thing the main thing—and that is knowing and loving the Lord Jesus and sharing Him. To be successful, you’ve got to narrow your interests. You’ve got to bring things into a burning focus.

I Corinthians 6:12, Psalm 27:4, Matthew 6:33

IV. DISCIPLINE YOUR LIFE Philippians 3:13-14

V. KEEP YOUR EYE ON THE GOAL Philippians 3:13

Conclusion: Do you want to go for the gold? Do you want to quest for the best? Here’s what you need to do. Fix your focus. Say, “That I may know Him.” Then, take inventory and see where you are right now. Then, bring all of your life into a burning focus. Say, “This one thing I do.” Bring that discipline into your life. Let God the Holy Spirit discipline you. And keep your eye on that one goal.

Second, the popularity of the group. “Many.”

Third, the persuasion of the group.

Fourth, the pain from the group. “Now tell you even weeping.”

2. Their dislike. “They are the enemies of the cross of Christ” (Philippians 3:18).

3. Their destruction. “Whose end is destruction” (Philippians 3:19).

4. Their degradation. “Whose God is their belly” (Philippians 3:19).

I Corinthians 15:51–58
