GOD’S LAST MESSAGE

Text: Revelation 22:6-21

INTRODUCTION: Before we look at God’s Last Words from The Last Book in the Bible. Let’s review briefly the Book of Revelation. Revelation 1:19 (Key Verse for the Book) “Write the things which thou hast seen, and the things which are, and the things which shall be hereafter;” Last Things: In the last chapter of the last book in the Bible (The Book of Revelation) we are going to see God’s last message God has left for us. We have covered a lot of territory in the book of Revelation. We have traveled through history from the early churches all the way into eternity. But finally, we have arrived at the back door of the book and of the Bible. It is here that we receive God’s Last Message. Last words are significant. They carry a lot of weight. When someone closes out a book or a life, they usually want to emphasize the things they consider to be most important. The Bible records the last words of men. The apostle Paul's last words are found in II Timothy, chapter 4: and the last words of the Lord Jesus Christ are contained in the four Gospels. History records the last words of famous men and women. God's last recorded words to man are important and worthy of our thought and attention. We Are Given:

I. A COMMAND TO OBEY - THE LAST COMMANDMENT

Revelation 22:7

The word “heeds”, “keeps” or “Obeys “means to guard the words of Revelation by applying it to our lives. We can “heed” the word of Revelation by:

(a) Observing the warnings of chapters 2 and 3 to the church, warnings against dead, cold orthodoxy, apostasy, immorality, materialism, etc.

(b) Living constantly in light of Christ’s presence.

(c) Carrying on a vital witness, having an open door to the unbelieving world in view of the coming tribulation and the lake of fire, that we might see men snatched from hell (Jude 23).

(d) Living as sojourners who refuse to become bogged down with materialism and who live with a view to the Eternal City.

(e) Enduring the trials of this life, during this age of darkness, seeing the light at the end of the tunnel, the glory that is to follow.

(f) Remembering that God’s plan is being accomplished, that He is sovereign and still on the throne as we see this old world moving farther and farther away from the Lord and the absolutes of His Word. As we heed the words of Revelation in this fashion, the Bible promises that we will be “blessed.” Revelation 22:13-16 Are you a Sheep that follows it’s Shepard the Lord or Hog, Goat, or Dog that do what they do which comes sinfully naturally? Keeping God’s commandments that are clearly seen in His Holy Word will bring great blessings.

II. AN INVITATION TO COME - THE LAST INVITATION:

Revelation 22:17

1.) The Call of The Spirit and Bride: "And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say. Come."

2.) The Condition of The Seekers: "And let him that is athirst come."

3.) The Certainty of The Salvation:

"And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely."

III. A WARNING TO HEED - THE LAST WARNING:

Revelation 22:18-19, II John 9, Proverbs 30:5, Psalm 119:89, Deuteronomy 4:2, II Timothy 3:16-17, Hebrews 4:12, Revelation 1:3

IV. A PROMISE TO BELIEVE - THE LAST PROMISE:

Revelation 22:20, I Thessalonians 4:16

V. A PRAYER TO PRAY - THE LAST PRAYER: Revelation 22:20

VI. A BLESSING BESTOWED - THE LAST BENEDICTION:

Revelation 22:21, II Corinthians 5:17

The Doctrine of Baptism and The Lord’s Supper

(Both Are Pictorial Ordinances)

CHURCH ORDINANCES

We believe that there are two pictorial ordinances in the Lord's churches: Baptism and the Lord's Supper. Scriptural baptism is the immersion of penitent believers in water, administered by the authority of a New Testament church in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. The Lord's Supper is a memorial ordinance, restricted to the members of the church observing the ordinance. Matthew 28:19-20; Acts 8:12, 38; Romans 6:4; 1 Corinthians 5:11-13; 1 Corinthians 11:1-2, 17-20, 26 Baptism and The Lord’s Supper When Done Properly Always Pictures the Acts, Sufferings, Death, And Resurrection of Jesus Christ. Examples: When not done properly - Cain and Abel and Moses and the Rock.

I. BAPTISM Matthew 28:19-20
